I did a bit of research recently on where sports betting originated. It turns out that there are a great deal of fascinating things about the history of sports and the betting that has gone along with it. I’m fascinated by the idea that people gamble in this manner. Betting on sports and on the outcome of tournaments has been something that’s taken place in every civilization in every part of the world. People used to walk for miles just to get the best-priced tickets.  For as long as sports have existed, so has sports betting. It’s human nature to seek out risks, and to be fair one should consider the fact that there are far more dangerous risks a person can take. There has to be some basic similarities between the way people placed bets in ancient times and how bets are placed today. It would be very interesting to know how gambling in general evolved in each civilization, and what the similarities are in the methods each culture uses to place bets on their particular sports. For centuries cultures didn’t have any contact with each other and yet there are so many more things they have in common in their methods of placing bets on sports, as well as in many other aspects of the way their civilizations developed.
