VOLUNTEER WORK

Today I didn’t go to school. Instead I went to the Decatur Senior Living Home to do some volunteer work. I love volunteering for a good cause, like going to old age homes and raising money for orphans. Not many people are willing to spend hours a day, whether in school or out of school, helping others. It sounds so egotistical of me to say that, but sadly it’s the truth. Don’t get me wrong, I mean, I love school and all of its subjects, but it’s not like I am missing out on anything if I don’t go. I’ll just have to make it up on my own time. For that reason alone I am allowed to miss school, like the principal writes me passes so that I am not graded as absent. I love working with elderly men and women, especially because I know that they appreciate what I do. I like doing what I do. At least two times a week I just help around, working on random things. On some days I just talk to the men and women, making friends with them and getting to know what their lives were like, and other times I help prepare bulletin boards and pasting pictures around the halls so that the building looks nicer. I love my job!
